“Uppa, Nina, uppa!”

I looked down into the sweet innocent face of my youngest grandson. His arms were raised up to me, and with sparkling dark eyes filled with love and confidence, he said, “Uppa, Nina, uppa!” His heart desire was that I would lift him up into my arms and hold him high where he could see more clearly and feel my love for him as I nuzzled his neck. I love this little boy, and I immediately responded to his request by reaching down and picking him up. I held him close as his little arms went around my neck. I could see his love for me in his eyes, and I could feel the trust in me that he so naturally gave. I thought my heart would burst for the joy I felt at that moment.

I often find myself repeating his words with my hands raised high to my Abba, my Heavenly Daddy! “Uppa, Abba, uppa! I raise my hands up to You, and just as little Noah spoke to me, I say to you, ‘Uppa!’ Lord, please lift me up into your arms and hold me high where I can see more clearly and feel your love for me as you hold me close.”

I picture Him looking down into my eyes. Sometimes He sees my eyes sparkling with love and trust. Other times He observes my face filled with pain, confusion, fear, loneliness, anger, and a myriad of other emotions that crowd my heart, my soul, and my mind. It doesn’t matter what brings me to Him longing to be lifted up – to be held close – to be comforted – to be healed – to be changed – to be reassured of His love and care for me. My Abba loves me, and His heart simply overflows with the joy of my desire to come to Him with the innocence of a child for what I need.

What do you need? Are you filled with joy and simply want to be in His arms to share it together? Are you struggling with a difficulty that needs His tender direction and care? Are you in pain, needing relief that only He can provide? What is it that fills your very soul? Come to Him! Raise your arms high and say, “Uppa, Father, uppa!” Let Him not only hold you, but also meet that need that others may not even know about. He alone can fulfill the desires of your heart. He longs to do so, and waits for you to come to Him.
