We live in a world of disappearing boundaries and ever-increasing extremes! In fact, it’s downright scary at times and becoming more so every day. Things we have long held as sacred or revered are quickly becoming not only disregarded but also despised. Everything in me cries out, “ENOUGH!” In its informal use, enough means fed up, had it, or up to here! That says it all for me! I’ve had enough of the election rhetoric, enough of Christian views and values being denigrated, enough of the assault that bombards every one of my senses! I’ve had enough! When I continually focus my attention on all the barrage of extremes that surround me each day, I yield to the extreme feelings that accompany them – extreme depression, extreme hopelessness, extreme anger, extreme frustration, extreme fear. There is no love, joy, or peace to be found in these extremes!
Then again, there is another view of “enough” that I prefer to turn my attention to. Plenty, adequate, sufficient – words that carry positive implications. Where can I find the source of plenty? One place only…His Name is YHWH! He alone is enough. Every one of His wonderful Names tells us of His sufficiency for our every area of need! One simple chorus written by David Ingles in the late 1970s always touches my heart. I sing it often when I’m feeling most needy!
He’s more than enough
More than enough
He is El Shaddai
The God of plenty
The All Sufficient One
God Almighty
He is more than enough¹
However, the song that brings me to tears every single time I hear it is one sung written by Robert Gay and sung by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. It’s entitled “More Than Enough.” I love that concept ~ not simply enough, He’s MORE than enough! In Him is abundance of everything!
Are you struggling with areas of inadequacy and insufficiency in your life? Are you facing difficulties that are overwhelming? May this song encourage you. Look to Him ~ turn your eyes on Him! Trust Him to provide ALL that you need!
If you want someone to pray for you or with you, please write and let me know. I would be honored to meet with Him on your behalf.
